Mob Swarms on Harvard

There is no doubt in my mind that Claudine Gay (Harvard President) should be removed from her post. I'm glad that she resigned, even she has to suffer her demotion with a $900k annual salary.

Anyone that says "yeah, but what about _______ - should they be fired for plagiarism too?"

Yes. They should. Terminate them all. All of the frauds who are out there in academia.

Notice what I wrote - in academia.

Sure, its up to each institution (academic or not) to hold their employees to certain standards - but in academia - plagiarism should be a no-brainer. Blaming Gay's "duplicative language" on a vast right wing conspiracy avoids the real issue at hand.

Now, as I write this, I will also say that I do not like the way that this happened. I don't like the mob swarm making any decisions.

I'd like to think we lived in a world where integrity and truth would be the arbiter instead of a mob swarm.

Mob swarms escalate quickly and often backfire. Anyone familiar with Robespierre and the Reign of Terror knows this.

But that isn't the world we live in anymore. At least, not for a while.
