I saw Peter Thiel speak at SXSW in 2013 in Austin.  You can watch his speech here: "You Are Not A Lottery Ticket".  

I recently rewatched the speech and am revisiting the implications of his worldview.  Sure, its oversimplified (the world in four boxes), but it is still very thought provoking.

I'll write more about my thoughts on the slides below later on (I'll edit this specific post).  I want to discuss the various forms of optimism that exist - even in the US - the strongest optimism being in California, specifically Silicon Valley.
